A 5-Step Makeup Tutorial for Every Party & Occasion

Between the decorating, the baking, the classic movies, the beloved carols, and the (seemingly endless) shopping, you’ve probably noticed that the holiday season is just about here —chances are your social calendar is quickly filling up with office parties, cocktail hours, cookie exchanges, and other holly-jolly events.

And since busy doesn’t even do your schedule justice right now, you’re probably searching for just about anything to make the holiday season a little simpler. That’s where this comes in: A festive makeup look that’s perfect for pretty much any holiday party or occasion—and that can be done in less than 15 minutes. (See, holiday miracles do still exist.) Keep reading for the easy how-to.

Step 1: Create Your Base

After applying primer, use a foundation brush to buff liquid foundation or CC cream in a circular motion across your entire face. We recommend a formula that’s medium-to-full coverage and long-lasting since you’ll probably be rocking around the Christmas tree for most of the night. Finish by applying concealer as needed and set with loose powder to complete your flawless base.

Step 2: Add a Touch of Colour

Using a bronzer brush, sweep on a light dusting of bronzer along your cheekbones, across the forehead, and down your nose to add a little definition and bring natural colour to your face. Skip blush, since you’ll be adding both a smoky eye and dramatic lip later on.

Step 3: Create a Smoky Eye

For this look, we’ll be creating a bronzed smoky eye, but you can easily sub out your favourite colour palette (think grays or even deep purples) based on the outfit you’ll be wearing.

Start by sweeping a metallic gold or bronze shadow across the entire lid, stopping right at the crease of your eyelid. Next, take a darker brown, slightly shimmery shadow and dab it in the outer corners of your eye, moving in a C motion from the crease of your lid to the base of your eyelashes. Using the same hue, lightly sweep the shadow along your lower lash line from the outer corner to the middle of your eye.

Once the look is as dark and dramatic as you like, take a slightly translucent taupe or champagne shadow and brush it along your brow bone, then dab in the inner corners of your eye for a brightening effect.

Step 4: Apply Mascara

Prep lashes by using an eyelash curler, then apply a super-dark and lash-lengthening mascara. For the lushest lashes, sweep inner lashes to the inside corner of your eye, middle lashes straight up, and outer lashes up and out. We suggest two coats for your upper lashes and one coat for your bottom lashes.

Step 5: Finish With Lipstick

To make your look extra merry, add a generous coat of rich, velvety lipstick or lipgloss in a bold winter hue, starting in the center of the lip and spreading the color out to the corners. We love a last-all-night gloss in eye-catching berry, but crimson, burgundy, classic red, and even hot orange will feel festive, too.

And there you have it: The easiest holiday makeup tutorial you’ll see all season. (Just think of it as our gift to you!)
