An Introduction to Social Selling on LinkedIn

Recently Hirsch’s Meadowdale hosted their monthly business network meeting with Ronald Daintree from WSI, a digital marketing company as guest speaker. Ronald spoke about the value of staying active on LinkedIn, how it gives you direct access to your clients & prospects as well as how to develop your personal brand. When it comes to creating LinkedIn profiles, they are the go-to people and know what prospects and recruiters are looking for, and how to set up profiles that people want to click on and read.

“Ronald broke down LinkedIn to ensure that all the attendees were made aware of how to utilize this platform at its optimum capacity. It was an interactive session where the guests were welcome to ask questions as he proceeded.  He pointed out that a powerful LinkedIn profile will set you apart from other candidates, salespeople, and business professionals. It helps you bypass the gatekeepers so that you can do business with the right people in your industry. He also gave some advice based on his personal experience working on the platform. When you don’t understand how to use something it can be quite daunting but Ronald make it easy for everyone to understand and use this tool in their businesses” commented Hirsch’s PRO Chantelle du Plessis.

Ronald gave a few reasons why you need a professionally written LinkedIn profile:

  • The right keywords: In any industry, there are certain buzz words that get linked to specific people, positions and areas of expertise.
  • The right wording: It’s not always easy to take your own work history, experience and expertise, and word this into an interesting, personal profile that people want to read.

 

After Ronald’s talk, each of the networkers was given the opportunity to present themselves and their businesses in a 60-second ‘elevator pitch ’, followed by some lucky draws, networking, sharing of business cards and enjoying refreshments.
