Hirsch’s Strubensvalley recently hosted Grade 10 learners from The Kings School West Rand for a Careers Day as part of their Business Curriculum.
Learners, accompanied by Business Studies & Life Orientation teacher Garth Cruz, were given an informative background of the company and how the founders Allan and Margaret Hirsch started the business in 1979 from their garage at home, fixing appliances, teaching people how to operate their appliances, to opening their first store and the growth to what the company has become today. Hirsch’s has 14 branches countrywide and 4 Samsung Concept stores under its wing. Hirsch’s Strubensvalley PRO Raquel stated that this kind of achievement is due to hard work, long hours and pure dedication to achieving your goals. She encouraged the learners to strive towards their achieving their own goals.
The learners were then divided into groups and given a tour of the store and each of department to learn how the company operates, and staff from Samsung Clearwater, one of Hirsch’s concept stores, gave the learners a demo of their cell phones, tablets and gadgets.
The morning ended with a fun game where the learners were divided into groups and each group was given a turn to ‘search and find’ a specific item from the shop floor. The first one to bring the item went into the next round and from there the first 3 winners were awarded with a Hirsch Gift Voucher.
Needless to say, the children left the store armed with huge smiles and teacher Garth Cruz thanked Raquel and the staff for such a great informative day and for being so hospitable and helpful.
