Mandela Day has been inspiring people across the world to take action and influence change for 67 minutes on 18 July each year.
Everyone has the ability and the responsibility to change the world for the better, and Mandela Day was yet another occasion for Hirsch’s Meadowdale to take action and inspire change within the community.
Apart from Hirsch’s, as an organization, collecting 6700 books for charity, Hirsch’s Meadowdale gave their 67 minutes of change by providing COMPASS Daycare Centre in Edenvale with fresh chicken soup, 5 Rest Assured mattresses and 4 carpets.
COMPASS is the abbreviation for COMMUNITY PROVISION & SOCIAL SERVICES. It is a non-profit organization that houses and shelters individuals by providing dignified home environments where people can have a second chance in life. It currently has five homes, four are located in the East Rand and one in Durban.
“Every year for Mandela Day, Hirsch’s tries to do something different and exciting for people within the community and to have been able to give back to children this year was an absolute pleasure. They are such a joy to work with and there is nothing quite like the smile on a kid’s face to brighten your day.” Said Hirsch’s PRO Letitia Haywood
The COMPASS children thanked the Hirsch staff by singing to us and giving us warm loving hugs.
