“What if…” Questions can really knock you down.
Here’s what I mean
The other day I was talking to an old friend about a
new job he was about to start. I was excited for him
and at first he naturally was even more excited.
Then things took a turn and he started asking those
“What If…” questions – like:
What if it doesn’t work out?
What if my new boss ends up hating me?
What if I don’t get along with my co-workers?
What if there’s too much work?
What if I have to work extra hours and weekends?
And he kept talking about all that could go wrong and
began to have serious doubts about his new job
Being a good friend I didn’t want him to start out on
the wrong foot. So I suggested looking at the positive side
of the new job and all the benefits.
After a while he started to see things a little differently.
He started to believe that he could do well at his new job
He began to believe that he could succeed and that he would
win over his bosses and get along with his co-workers.
We all have those “What if…” beliefs. Sometimes they come
up when you’re starting something new and sometimes they pop
into your head during the day.
If and when that happens you need to push them out and
believe in yourself. Because you can and will succeed.
You can and will enjoy life and achieve your goals when
you believe you can
So push the negative “What if…” thoughts aside and
start believing in yourself today and everyday.
Wishing you continued success.
