SELF-ACCEPTANCE AND POWER
Hirsch’s Silverlakes recently hosted their monthly ladies networking event where entrepreneurs and representatives of larger companies were invited to mingle, socialise and network after listening to an informative talk by an invited guest speaker.
Commented Hirsch’s Tsz Yan Lau, “Itumeleng Sekhu, the guest speaker for the morning, suffered third-degree burns to 35 percent of her body when she was only 11 months old in 1989, after the dress she was wearing accidentally caught fire from a candle placed next to her bed while she was asleep. But that is not Sekhu’s story. Rather, hers is one of resilience.”
Her topic was “Self-acceptance and power”. She spoke with a humorous touch on how she overcame difficulties growing up facing bullies and stares and how she turns her challenges into opportunities.
Thereafter, everyone then had a chance to express which cycle they’re currently on and also spoke about their business for 30 seconds.
