Hirsch’s Founder and COO Margaret Hirsch is a well-recognised Women in Business in South Africa, and recently did a live broadcast live on Cape Town’s OneFM 94.0 community radio station to tell the Cape West Coast a bit more about herself and Hirsch’s Homestore, and what it takes to run multi-billion rand company.
Margaret Hirsch told her story of humble beginnings and the how she realised when her father passed away and her mother was left to provide for the family she vowed she would never be left if a destitute situation again and made it her goal to be financially secure. Hirsch’s Homestore is now the leading independently-owned family run appliance chain with over 20 stores around South Africa.
Margaret told the OneFM 94.0 Listeners that Hirsch’s Homestores around the country hold monthly networking events, the Margaret Hirsch Women in Business Achiever (MHWIBA) awards and one mixed Business Networking session. The MHWIBA awards one Businesswoman from the community every month and she will go into the annual competition to win the title and fabulous prizes at the Gala Dinner where they will receive the exposure and recognition for their businesses that they deserve. The Business Networking is a platform where local business owners can meet, network and grow their businesses together.
