The Mind Body Connection to weight loss.
Hirsch’s Centurion recently hosted a women’s networking event with Yvonne Strydom as their guest speaker. Yvonne is a Life Coach who runs “4Be Lifestyle”. Yvonne has trained many middle distance athletes who went through to provincials. She also assists women with confidence building.
Yvonne spoke about the mind body connection to weight loss. She spoke about how weight loss is not just exercising and having the right diet. “ These two things are essential to losing weight but the mind plays a major roll on our weight loss and weight gain.” Yvonne went into detail giving a better understanding of how the mind can influence our bodies and more importantly the way we perceive ourselves.
Angelique Redelinghuys the PRO of Hirsch’s Centurion Branch commented “This topic is about the mind body connection to weight loss but it can actually also be seen as a motivational talk.Yvonne started her presentation with a few statistics on how 65% of people are living an unhealthy lifestyle, simply because we all have busy and stressful lifestyles.
Most people choose to eat what’s “quick and easy” and most of the time these foods have little or no nutritional value.
Yvonne named a few things that play a huge role in weight gain and weight loss namely, chronic yo-yo dieting , nutritional starvation, toxins, medication, mental and emotional factors.”
The ladies who attended the women’s networking all identified with this topic and had a lot of questions after Yvonne’s presentation. The morning ended with a networking session, coffee and a few nutritional snacks as well as a lucky draw where one of the ladies, Samlelisiwe Nxumalo won a Hirsch’s “Mum’s on the Run” cook book.
