Hirsch’s Hyde Park celebrates World Sleep Day
Hirsch’s and St Andrew’s School for Girls teamed up to celebrate World Sleep Day in a fun and exciting way. Together with Cloud Nine and Rest Assured, Hirsch branches around the country launched an activation to see how many school learners could fit onto a queen-size bed for at least 30 seconds, while raising money for a charitable project. The Grade 3 learners at St Andrew’s School for Girls had great fun trying to see how many of them could squeeze on to the Rest Assured Bed! An outstanding 49 girls squeezed onto the mattress and St. Andrews walked away as the winners for Gauteng.
Cloud 9 and Rest Assured donated sponge mattresses in each region for a charity of the school’s choice. St. Andrews chose Bethany House, a home and place of rehabilitation for abused women and their children. Bethany House is a non-profit organization, shelter and place of rehabilitation for abused women and children, situated in the Bertrams area. Their mission is to create a caring environment in which women and children find love, healing and teaching which enables them to integrate back into society. In the past year, they have assisted approximately 50 abused women and their children, offering them a safe haven and place of rehabilitation. They accommodate up to 50 women and children for approximately 12 – 14 months.
