How to care for your mattress

You spend more time on your mattress than any other single piece of furniture in your home.   That is why taking care of your mattress is vital to your health –  and the longevity of your mattress.

Read the instructions

As difficult as this might sound for some people to do, the manufacturer’s notes will give you very clear do’s and don’t on how to care for your mattress.

b1Protect your assets

The first thing to do with a new mattress is to cover it with a mattress protector.  The mattress protector will keep your mattress stain-freeand clean for years to come.  When shopping for a mattress protector, ensure that it is waterproof.

Solid support

Use a sturdy bed frame or base to give your mattress even support from head to toe.  The even distribution of weight will give you improved support.

b3Take a turn

Turning your mattress every three months will ensure an even wear of your mattress over the years.  Be sure to follow the manufacture’s notes on turning your mattress.

b4No jumping, kids

As tempting as it might seem, jumping on your mattress is not advised as it could cause serious damage to its internal support.

b5 Keep it clean

Giving your mattress a vacuum every now and then can prevent any dust and dust mites from becoming grounded in the mattress

b6A brush of baking soda

Remove odours from your mattress without harming it by sprinkling with baking soda. Leave it for 20 minutes and use the vacuum to suck it up.

Buying a good mattress is investing in your health, and taking good care it the mattress will ensure many nights of peaceful sleep and happy dreams.
