Hirsch’s Meadowdale recently hosted a dynamic Women in Business Networking event with 24 entrepreneurs within the community eager to network and to listen to Margaret Hirsch Woman in Business Finalist 2017- Dr. Marlena Kruger’s talk on ‘How to Flourish in today’s Digital World.’
After more than 25 years working in public higher education, Marlena was appointed in August 2012 as Dean of Faculties at CTI Education Group – a private higher education institution that is now fully owned by Pearson. During these years she was among other things actively involved in the roll-out and distribution of computer tablets, training and development of lecturers and students and the development of best practices for e- and mobile learning to all students at CTI – distributed over 12 campuses in South Africa.
In 2015 Marlena started her own company- MindUnique Education Pty (Ltd)- an innovative Integrated Techno-life Balance System.
Commented Marlena “We live in a technology-immersed world where people are busy drowning. People are not aware of the fact that when they overuse technology and social media, it can lead to possible addiction. The misuse of technology or not managing technology properly, can have a negative impact on you and your family’s relationships and well-being. It is important to have a healthy balance and a good management of technology at home, school, work and how to prevent and restore imbalance.’’ She said.
After Marlena’s talk each of the networkers were given the opportunity to present themselves and their business in a 30-second ‘elevator pitch ’, followed by some lucky draws, networking, sharing of business cards and enjoying some refreshments.
