Hirsch’ Umhlanga recently held their first Kitchen Capers activation – a “How To” Series that is being rolled out at all Hirsch’s branches around the country. Guest chef was well-known master baker, Simmi Ramnarian. Vegan cupcakes, vanilla sponge and simple meals were on the menu. Simmi who owns a baking and confectionery business, has recently ventured into preparing both vegetarian & vegan dishes.
“The first thing people ask me when they find out about vegan is “What do you eat?”. There is a common misconception that veganism means sacrificing taste and delicious dishes for bland tasteless food, and I am here today to show people that they can have scrumptious food that packs a punch of flavour while being great for general health and the environment”. She said.
