A POT OF LOVE FOR THANDOLABANTWANA CRECHE.

A POT OF LOVE FOR THANDOLABANTWANA CRECHE.

A  Pot of Love was the name of the competition put together for Caxton papers around the country by Hirsch’s, SPAR and Snappy Chef, and the idea behind it was for readers to nominate a child or Gogo headed household or a small crèche that needed some extra loving care. Readers were asked to write and submit  a motivational piece  on why they felt the nominated family or crèche would be worthy recipients of the prizes that included a  14-liter pot from Snappy Chef, a voucher from Hirsch’s and a hamper from SPAR. Kim Griffiths Jones  from the Robin Hood Foundation put together a nomination on behalf of the Thandolabantwana Creche in Hammarsdale and winning the prize of behalf of her creche was Gogo Shange who has been looking after the children at the creche for many years.

Said Kim “I’ve nominated Gogo Shange as she is an absolute blessing to the children at the creche and the community in general. Thandolabantwana was our focus project for 2019 Buy-a-Brick campaign and since opening in October last year, the children in the community were thriving, until lockdown that is. Even though the creche is closed, Gogo Shange is doing her best to keep up with sending food  into the community to ensure these little ones and their families don’t go hungry. I have taken her groceries for herself, only to find that she’s sent them out into the community for the children. I’m very sure this Spar hamper, 14L pot donation and voucher will bring happiness to her heart and she’ll be cooking up a storm for the children.”

Kim and Lindsay Kleynhans, PRO at  the Hirsch’s Hillcrest branch headed down to the Thandolabantwana creche to surprize Gogo Shange with her  prize and she accepted it with loving arms and a dance in her step.
