Vogue.com summed up these fabulous dresses so well! I could not let these dresses go without comment, have a read below:
Last weekend, Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas married in not one, but two grand ceremonies at India’s Umaid Bhawan Palace. And now, Chopra has shared both her stunning looks from their wedding weekend.
Her first post showed her in a custom, red lehenga by Sabyasachi, which she wore for her traditional Indian nuptials. The design included French knots in silk floss, “Siam-red” crystals, and intricate hand embroidery. According to the brand, it took 3,720 hours and 110 embroiderers to create.
Jonas wore a gold silk sherwani, a hand-embroidered chikan dupatta and a chanderi tissue safa.
Chopra’s second post displayed her white Western wedding gown by Ralph Lauren. It was comprised of two pieces: a long scalloped sleeve dress with a high neckline, hand-beaded and hand-embroidered with floral and scroll motifs, pearl paillettes, and Swarovski crystals, and a strapless column dress with 2,380,000 mother of pearl sequins.
A piece of Nick’s mother’s wedding dress was stitched into the fabric, along with 8 phrases personal to Priyanka: Nicholas Jerry Jonas, 1st December 2018, Madhu & Ashok (the names of her parents), Om Namah Shivay (a Hindu mantra), family, hope, compassion, and love.
Perched upon her head (and extending far, far behind her) was a 75-foot tulle veil, which was so long it required multiple attendants for her walk down the aisle.
All in all, the elaborate creation took 1,826 hours to create. And it wasn’t Chopra’s only Ralph Lauren look of the night: for the reception, she wore an ivory silk dress with a beaded neck and shoulders, according to the brand.
Jonas, too, wore a black Ralph Lauren tuxedo. Inside his jacket was a piece of Chopra’s dress, embroidered with the words “My Jaan” (Urdu for “My Life”). This marks the first time Lauren has created wedding ensembles for a couple outside of his family—safe to say the Chopra-Jonas union has proven a suitably epic occasion.
